It's My Business Birthday!

Six years ago, Key2MIA was born out of heartbreak. I had just gone through a personal loss and a professional setback that left me with nothing but severance and time. In one of those "what’s next?" moments, a conversation with my mom sparked an idea—an idea that would soon turn into a business, a passion, and a movement.

Starting this journey wasn’t easy. Self-doubt crept in early on, and there were people who expected me to stay down. I had to push past those voices, get them "out of the room," and step fully into my entrepreneurial mode. There was nowhere to go but up. And here I am, six years later, still standing, still thriving.

The Evolution of Key2MIA

When I first launched Key2MIA, I was running on full throttle—seven tours, seven days a week. The grind was nonstop. But then the world stopped. The 2020 pandemic forced me to slow down and rethink my approach. It was the reset I didn’t know I needed. I learned to work smarter, focus on what truly resonated with my audience, and refine the experiences I offered. Key2MIA isn’t just about showing people Miami—it’s about shifting perspectives, uncovering hidden history, and celebrating Black culture in the Magic City.

This journey has been filled with unforgettable moments and incredible partnerships. Collaborating with the Black Travel Summit, working alongside visionaries like Emmanuel George and Martinique Lewis, and building relationships with every partner on my Melanin Miami Tour have been defining experiences. Meat the Veggies, Black Tour Operators Network, and so many others have played a role in shaping what Key2MIA has become today.

This anniversary is about more than just longevity—it’s about resilience. So many things were meant to keep me from making it past year one, yet here I am, still curating unforgettable experiences while balancing a full-time job and motherhood. Running this business has taught me that rest is just as important as hustle. It’s also reminded me of how deeply creative I am. Key2MIA is something I built from the ground up, and seeing its impact on so many people over the years is a feeling I can’t describe.
